The question that guided me in AP Photography this year was What is it that makes a particular place special and unique? Through my lens, studying the East and West Coasts of the USA, I strived to convey the unique atmosphere, emotions, and stories that make these places special. Although my images spanned both coasts, I found similar attributes. The same serene landscapes in Upstate NY evoked similar feelings to those in North CA. I aim to transport viewers to that specific moment and create a strong connection to the place. Photography allows me to freeze time and share the magic of a sense of place with others, inviting them to explore, appreciate, and connect with the world around us. I aimed to capture a moment in time. I experimented with color and its effect on mood, as well as how I could find ways to tell stories with my pictures. I wanted to appreciate my surroundings and share the beauty that we look past day by day. I wanted to convey emotion and storytelling of what makes a place special and the history that belongs there.
"To Build a Family" - winner of Gold Key in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards This photo is a candid black and white image that captures the journey of colliding two families. This was taken on the trip where my mom got proposed to and two very different families turned to one. The picture tells that story.
